Role details
The Commercialization Group is seeking a technician to support the product development and maintenance efforts for new and existing interior and exterior architectural products designed for the Brands Commercialization Lab.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.
This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

- Contribute to color matching projects in support of the Paint Stores Group
- Conduct lab activities which include pouring, tinting, and applying paint
- Build color matching databases utilizing color software, generate color formulas, evaluate color quality through numeric and visual evaluation, and modify and improve color formulas
- Support of routine experiments, recording results and learning basic knowledge of equipment/computing tools to capture and record data
- Communication within the project team regarding project needs and status
- Executes and analyzes experiments and provides regular updates
- Establishes timeline for assignments based on priorities with assistance from their supervisor
- Writes basic reports, outlines procedures used, and results obtained.
- Recognizes problems and implements corrective actions to resolve the issue.
- Analyzes data, begins to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Proficient in operating moderately complex lab instruments.
- Identify potential Continuous Improvement opportunities, and drive projects to completion
- Accurately document and present lab results and technical information
- Utilize Microsoft Access and Excel to analyze, manipulate, and query data
- Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- 1 year of lab experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Math (“STEM”) field
- Paint coating experience
- Color related experience
- Able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
- Ability to interact effectively with various levels of technical experience
- 2 or more years in a lab setting
