Role details

Responsibilities will include

  • Fabrication and processing of carbon/carbon and ceramic matrix composite materials.
  • Conducting high-temperature processing, densification, coating, and thermal treatment experiments.
  • Materials characterization using techniques such as SEM/EDS, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing.
  • Analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
  • Supporting graduate and undergraduate researchers with experimental procedures and laboratory activities.
  • Maintaining appropriate experimental documentation and assisting with preparation of technical reports, presentations, and research publications.
  • Assisting with the safe operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with composite materials, ceramics, carbon materials, high-temperature materials processing, coatings, or materials characterization is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty and student researchers.
  • Strong experimental, data-analysis, and technical communication skills.

Appointment: Part-time, approximately 10 hours per week . The position will be based in the Advanced Composites Laboratory at The University of Tulsa.
