Job Summary

---------------

Purdue University invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in energy and environment through a cluster search involving the School of Mechanical Engineering (ME), the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and the School of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering (SEE). Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline by the employment start date.

Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations and contributions to education and/or mentoring. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels. Applicants interested in a position in any of Purdue’s engineering schools are welcome to apply. The location of this position, including teaching responsibilities, is in Indianapolis.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: thermal management, heat and mass transport phenomena, energy conversion, renewable and sustainable energy systems, and energy storage and batteries (ME); power electronics, electric machines and drives, electrification, renewable energy integration, and modeling, optimization, and control of resilient electric grids and distributed energy resources (ECE); and life cycle engineering and assessment, sustainable energy and industrial systems, environmental impacts of energy technologies, circular materials and resource recovery, end-of-use product value recovery, carbon management, and technologies addressing the energy-water-environment nexus (SEE).

Across all three schools, we welcome expertise addressing the energy and environmental challenges of data centers and semiconductor technologies, including thermal management and cooling, power delivery and energy efficiency, water use and reuse, and sustainable semiconductor manufacturing, including process chemistry and materials recovery. Research that connects these areas across the participating schools is encouraged.
