Your Responsibilities

-------------------------

As a Sr. Engineer, Engine Fluids for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Waterloo, IA , you will:

• Under guidance from staff fluids engineers, assist in defining and executing engine fluids technical strategy and roadmap (enterprise + aftermarket) with particular focus on engine-oils.
• Drive development and validation of new engine-fluids formulations and performance improvements, including lab testing and field testing. Drive fluids development for new applications (e.g. ethanol engines, alternative fuels)
• Interface with additive companies, oil blenders, external laboratories, and internal engineering partners.
• Provide technical support, issue resolution, and design guidance to engine-development teams. Provide technical and application support to engine-oil projects as a subject matter expert.

What Skills You Need

------------------------

• 5 or more years of experience in a combination of: engine-oil development, lubrication engineering, fluid validation/testing, engine-application development, materials/chemical engineering background
• Understanding of fluids/material compatibility with metals, elastomers, polymers, seals, and coatings
• Experience developing or executing product test plans, validation matrices, or qualification procedures. Preference in engines or fluids.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, SAE, ISO, or OEM specifications
• Ability to contribute to a comprehensive strategy, driving assigned portions through effectively communicating internally with stakeholders and business units
• Ability to travel up to 25% based on business needs

What Makes You Stand Out

• Deep knowledge in compression-ignition and spark-ignition engine lubrication
• Knowledge and interest in alternative fuels
• Interest and drive in gaining deep knowledge of engine-oils and interactions with mechanical and chemical interactions within internal combustion engines
• Off-highway engine applications
• Familiarity in engine-oil industry (suppliers, laboratories, professional organizations)

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent related work experience
