WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Rampart Products is seeking a Compression Molding Technician who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring compression molding equipment to produce high-quality molded components according to production specifications, work instructions, and safety requirements.
This Technician performs mold changes and machine adjustments, monitors processing conditions, inspects finished parts, and troubleshoots molding and equipment issues to maintain consistent production and product quality.
WHAT THE DAY-TO-DAY LOOKS LIKE
*Responsibilities*
- Set up and operate compression molding presses and related production equipment.
- Install and remove molds, tooling, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment as required.
- Prepare molding materials, compounds, preforms, inserts, and other components according to established procedures.
- Set and monitor molding parameters such as temperature, pressure, cure time, cycle time, and material quantity.
- Start up and shut down molding equipment safely and according to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor production processes to ensure parts meet dimensional, visual, and quality specifications.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
- Identify defects such as voids, flash, short shots, cracks, warping, burns, surface imperfections, or dimensional variations.
- Make appropriate machine and process adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
- Troubleshoot molding problems and assist with identifying root causes of defects and equipment issues.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on molding equipment and tooling.
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, downtime, scrap, and process documentation.
- Follow work instructions, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and applicable environmental and quality procedures.
- Communicate production, quality, material, and equipment concerns to supervisors, engineers, maintenance, and quality personnel.
- Assist with process improvements, scrap reduction, cycle-time improvements, and continuous improvement activities.
- Train or assist less-experienced operators and technicians when required.
WHAT YOU BRING
*Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic understanding of molding processes, materials, tooling, and production equipment
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, production specifications, and technical drawings
- Ability to use basic measuring and inspection equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in plastics, rubber, composites, or other molded-product manufacturing
*Physical Requirements*
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle molds, materials, and components within company-established limits
- Ability to work around heated equipment, presses, production machinery, and industrial materials
*Preferred Qualifications*
- Technical certificate, associate degree, or vocational training in manufacturing, plastics technology, mechanical technology, or a related field
- Experience with hydraulic or electric molding presses
- Previous experience operating compression molding presses or similar manufacturing
- Knowledge of thermoset plastics, rubber, composite, or other compression-molded materials.
- Familiarity with mold setup, tooling maintenance, and process optimization.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience working with SPC, control plans, and quality documentation.

- Option b/w 1 or 2 Shift
- 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00am – 3:00pm*._* Overtime Available before 6:00am and on Weekends_
- 2 Shift: Monday-Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm. *Overtime Available after 11:00pm and on Weekends*
