Entry-Level Process Engineer Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, entry-level Process Engineer to support day-to-day manufacturing and material-processing operations for advanced scintillator materials used in PET molecular imaging applications.

This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced R&D and manufacturing environment, with opportunities to learn chemical and physical processing methods, operate production and laboratory equipment, maintain accurate documentation, and support process scale-up from development to large-volume manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a background in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Prior process engineering experience is not required. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, adaptability, and a genuine interest in long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily manufacturing and material-processing activities, including liquid precursor preparation, nanomaterial synthesis, powder processing, calcination, milling, and sieving.
  • Learn and operate laboratory and production equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with process execution, material preparation, forming, and scale-up activities.
  • Maintain accurate batch records, sample tracking, chemical inventory, data entry, and production documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
  • Follow established procedures, safety requirements, and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and support new projects as manufacturing capabilities expand.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of scientific principles, chemical or physical material processing, or laboratory practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, operate equipment safely, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Prior process engineering experience is not required. Training will be provided to develop the necessary technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to chemical preparation, powder processing, nanomaterials, thermal treatment, or advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing or material characterization techniques such as ICP-MS, DSC-TGA, particle size analysis, BET testing, porosity measurements, or optical performance testing.
  • Hands-on experience through academic projects, internships, laboratory work, or manufacturing training.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be curious, coachable, dependable, ethical, and eager to build a long-term career in engineering. The ability to accept feedback, work collaboratively, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities is essential.

Candidates who demonstrate commitment, professionalism, and a positive attitude toward learning and teamwork are strongly encouraged to apply.

Work Environment and Safety

This position operates in a hands-on R&D and manufacturing environment involving chemicals, acids, powder materials, and cutting or polishing equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, safety glasses, and occasional dust or powder masks, may be required. Safety and EHS training will be provided.

Career Growth Opportunity

This is an entry-level opportunity designed to develop into a Process Engineer role through structured training, hands-on experience, and increasing responsibility. The position may offer conversion to full-time employment within approximately one year, depending on individual performance, business needs, safety practices, and readiness to take on ongoing manufacturing responsibilities.
