Job Summary
As a Process Engineer, you’ll improve injection molding processes on the production floor of a growing precision and injection molding manufacturer. You’ll use process data, hands-on plant experience, and close collaboration with operators and technicians to reduce scrap and cycle time and strengthen process stability. This role involves molding machines, tooling, resins, and technically demanding plastic components.
Duties
- Develop, document, validate, and optimize injection molding processes using scientific molding principles.
- Analyze production data, troubleshoot tooling, resin, and equipment issues, and use root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
- Lead process improvement projects that reduce scrap and cycle time and improve machine utilization and process stability.
- Support mold qualification activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ, DOE studies, and capability analysis.
- Support product launches, customer technical discussions, and production personnel training. Your impact: Better-controlled processes help production teams make consistent, high-quality parts and resolve issues quickly.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in plastics injection molding process work within a manufacturing environment; approximately five years preferred. A four-year degree is not required.
- Strong knowledge of molding processes, resins, materials, tooling, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with scientific molding, process validation, and data-driven problem solving; not every tool or method is required.
- Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor and following problems through to resolution.
- Ability to work directly with operators, setup technicians, tooling, quality, and production leadership.
