We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer ideally with experience in mechanical design for military applications. This role is integral to the development of high-performance integrated systems for the U.S. Department of Defense and other customers. You will lead mechanical design efforts from concept through implementation, testing, and delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer and collaborative leader who is passionate about mentoring junior engineers, driving innovation, and working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical solutions for our customers.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems including moving assemblies (e.g., masts, booms, support structures).
  • Develop 3D CAD models, fabrication and assembly drawings using SolidWorks and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to optimize designs for manufacturability and reliability.
  • Conduct hand calculations and FEA to validate mechanical performance.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, both internal and customer-facing.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer service teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Document test plans, procedures, and engineering specifications.
  • Reverse engineer complex components and assemblies as needed.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 7-10 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in defense, military, or ruggedized integrated systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and familiarity with ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with specialized packaging solutions and electromechanical system integration.
  • Experience designing with composite materials, including carbon fiber structures, layup definitions, fabrication specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience performing thermal analysis to evaluate component and system-level performance in demanding environmental conditions.
  • Experience performing structural analysis, including static, dynamic, and wind load assessments for mobile, relocatable, and fixed-site systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to customers, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized with strong planning, prioritization, and documentation skills.
  • Strong team-oriented mindset with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, program management, and customer-facing organizations.
  • Able and willing to travel approximately 5% - 10%.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience with welding, machining, injection molding, and sheet metal design.
  • Familiarity with military standards and ruggedized system design.
  • Experience supporting environmental qualification testing, including MIL-STD-810.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and hands-on coaching.
  • Experience supporting customer design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and fielded system troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with FEA tools and thermal simulation software.

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
