About The Role

Green Eagle is seeking an R&D & Materials Engineer to support the development of new materials, products, and manufacturing technologies while providing hands-on engineering support to production.

Working closely with company leadership and manufacturing teams, you'll help take new technologies from initial concept through prototyping, testing, manufacturing scale-up, and commercialization. You'll primarily work with composites, carbon fiber, natural fibers, polymers, and nonwoven materials.

This is a hands-on role that combines R&D with manufacturing support. The successful candidate will spend time developing and testing new materials as well as working directly with production to troubleshoot processes, improve performance, and successfully transition new technologies into manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize composite and fiber-based materials utilizing carbon fiber, natural fibers, polymers, and other reinforcement systems

• Design and execute experiments, develop prototypes, and analyze results to improve material and process performance

• Evaluate and apply nonwoven and fiber-processing technologies to new product development

• Provide hands-on engineering support to production, including process troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement

• Help translate laboratory and pilot-scale developments into stable, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing processes

• Support production trials, process optimization, material changes, and new product introductions

• Collaborate with manufacturing teams, research partners, laboratories, universities, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers

• Develop technical specifications, test methods, process documentation, and engineering reports

• Support the identification and development of new technologies and patentable innovations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline

• 2+ years of relevant engineering, materials development, product development, manufacturing, or R&D experience

• Understanding of composite materials and fiber-reinforced material systems

• Familiarity with nonwoven materials, fiber processing, and/or nonwoven manufacturing technologies

• Experience with experimentation, prototyping, testing, manufacturing process development, or production support

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with a hands-on approach to both R&D and manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with carbon fiber composites, including recycled or discontinuous carbon fiber

• Experience with natural fibers, including hemp, wood fiber, cellulose, flax, or similar materials

• Experience with nonwoven manufacturing processes such as airlaid, carding, needle punching, or thermal bonding

• Experience with thermoplastic composites, polymer processing, and/or manufacturing scale-up

• Experience troubleshooting and improving processes in a production manufacturing environment
