The Product development engineer leads the tooling design and development of product that involves a greater level of complexity in material, process, or profile combined with customer requirements for product validation. Strong process development and design capabilities combined with project management skills help to drive strategic growth developments to their successful launch into production.

2.** **Tasks and Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for a number of activities. These activities include but are not limited to:

• Lead design and development of tooling for new complex developments working in coordination with the tooling shop manager.

• Develop and report detailed timing and documented APQP updates on new developments

• Drive problem resolution in development with cross functional team as needed.

• Develop and drive material and product testing plan in coordianation with Quality, Lab, and Application teams.

• Assist with new equipment or process introduction tied directly to new developments

• Lead and manage complex part development through APQP gates working with cross functional teams and Application engineer to meet customer development requirements

• Provide design and process validation support in secondary operations

• Develop recovery and action plans to with cross functional team to address issues or design changes

3.** **Education and Experience

Specify what level of education is needed (secondary school, technical school, university, master, PHD, etc). Define how many years’ relevant working experience is required and which type of experience.

• BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or other technical discipline preferred
• Demonstrated experience (3 year minimum) in tooling design for complex extruded profiles with a strong background in process development (Plastic materials)
• Experience with Aerospace developments preferred

• Project or program management experience is preferred

• Experiance with CFD (flow Simulation) is a plus

• Rubber EPDM extrusion experience is a plus

• Working knowledge of testing and validation methods for elastomer materials and parts

• 3D CAD proficiency ( SolidWorks, Inventor or similar) – Minimum 3 years

• Exposure to machining and fabrication (CAM) is a plus

• Strong knowledge of design for machining capabilities and processes

• Project Management skills
