Job Summary

We are seeking an established and motivated

Materials Engineer / Technical Specialist

to join our R&D team. In this role, you will analyze, research, design, and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes to optimize material performance in engineering designs for structures, systems, and subsystems.

As a Technical Specialist, you will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to advance existing technologies or introduce new technologies and therapies—from initial concept and design through implementation. You will work independently under general supervision on moderately complex projects, contributing directly to project milestones and cross-functional R&D initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Design & Optimization:

Analyze, research, design, and develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials and their application processes for system and subsystem engineering designs.

  • Process & Specification Development:

Establish fabrication and assembly processes, quality engineering specifications, material processing standards, and design allowables.

  • Material & Failure Analysis:

Conduct material characterization, life predictions, and component/system failure analyses to establish requirements and performance limits.

  • Subcontractor & Supplier Oversight:

Review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures and technical specifications.

  • Project Delivery & R&D:

Formulate, execute, and manage R&D projects and technical initiatives adhering to quality and regulatory standards while utilizing specialized technical knowledge.

  • Mentorship & Collaboration:

Communicate frequently across internal R&D, engineering, and quality teams to share information, gain input, and support decision-making. May provide guidance, mentorship, or work direction to lower-level professionals and support personnel.
