About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join an established production facility in Comer, Georgia. This role is perfect for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys tackling complex production challenges, and is dedicated to creating practical solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and overall output.
You will manage a diverse range of tasks including mechanical design, process refinement, tooling development, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers the autonomy to shepherd engineering projects from the initial design phase through to final implementation while collaborating with production, quality, and engineering teams to advance composite component manufacturing.
Core Responsibilities
- Create and optimize production procedures for composite assemblies and products.
- Design and refine production fixtures, jigs, inspection gauges, and tooling to help improve overall shop floor efficiency.
- Utilize CAD software to engineer technical solutions and support manufacturing enhancements.
- Analyze engineering specifications, drawings, and GD&T to ensure components meet manufacturing standards and accuracy requirements.
- Facilitate new product launches, engineering changes, manufacturing trials, and process validations to ensure team success.
- Investigate production issues related to equipment performance, dimensional variation, assembly processes, and product defects.
- Identify and implement strategies to reduce cycle times, scrap, rework, and overall manufacturing costs.
- Apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to resolve recurring production bottlenecks and help the team maintain consistent output.
- Collaborate directly with technicians and production operators to integrate process improvements into daily workflows.
- Conduct process capability studies, measurement system evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability.
- Assess new manufacturing techniques, equipment, materials, and tooling options.
- Develop and maintain essential engineering documentation, including process specifications, manufacturing instructions, and inspection requirements.
- Support continuous improvement projects to help foster a safer, higher-quality, and more productive work environment.
- Provide technical training and guidance to production staff during the rollout of new equipment or processes.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Ideally 2–5 years of experience in a technical role, such as Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and practical experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Background working within fabrication, machining, assembly, or production environments.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical specifications, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with CAD software, such as Siemens NX, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to help the team resolve complex technical issues.
- Solid understanding of continuous improvement and manufacturing process development.
- Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies like 5 Why, 8D, FMEA, Fishbone, and DOE.
- Knowledge of quality systems including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Experience utilizing inspection tools such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, or CMMs.
- Understanding of measurement system analysis, process capability, and SPC.
- Excellent communication skills to help facilitate effective collaboration between production and engineering teams.
