*Job Summary*

The R&D Program Development Engineering group at Haartz is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated individual to join our team as a Coatings Technician, Level 1. If you have a great attitude, strong work ethic and like working in a team environment, this is the right job for you! This position is entry level and training will be provided. It is a full-time role, working Monday through Friday on-site in Acton, MA, 6:00am to 3:00pm. Hours may fluctuate depending on the needs of the business. Overtime is paid after 8 hours worked in a day.

As a Coatings Technician, Level 1, you will be responsible for providing general support to R&D Program Development Coatings team. Will work in a manufacturing environment preparing and covering coating related projects. Perform quality testing for production and lab created samples.

Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to problem solve and make decisions with limited supervision. They will have strong troubleshooting skills and be detail oriented with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills. A strong work ethic, flexibility and ability to work in a team environment are a must!

*Job Duties and Responsibilities*

  • Assist in preparing samples for lab experiments as directed.
  • Prepare topcoat formulas with proper documentation for production trials. May require the use of production Topcoat Mixing equipment.
  • Test products (coatings or coated products) for qualities such as appearance, chemical resistance, formability, and physical characteristics.
  • Participate in a weekly rotation for cleaning and maintaining lab and equipment.
  • Become familiar with the ROSS system for use in checking production status, inventories, issuing materials used, and printing topcoat tickets.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment where trust, communication and teamwork are encouraged.
  • Work safely and follow all safety and environmental guidelines as specified by Haartz.
  • Work in accordance with all Quality Systems principles and standards.
  • Lead by example in adherence to quality systems, CARES core values (Collaboration, Appreciation, Respect, Enthusiasm, Sustainability), and organizational procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

*Skills and Qualifications*

  • Required

o High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

o Computer experience required.

o Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using material handling aids or team-lifting techniques.

o Occasionally move drums weighing up to 450 lbs. using a 2-wheeled drum dolly.

  • Preferred

o Experience working in Manufacturing or similar industry

o Knowledge of Microsoft software
