Job Summary

The School of Polymer Science and Engineering (SPSE) at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2027. We seek candidates whose research and teaching will complement and expand the School’s strengths in polymer science and engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates developing research programs broadly within polymer physics, physical polymer chemistry, or polymer engineering, with the disciplinary expertise to contribute to core undergraduate and graduate teaching in these areas. Outstanding candidates in other contemporary areas of polymer science and engineering are also encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

+ Develop and sustain an externally funded, internationally recognized research program.

+ Deliver high-impact instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses in polymer science and engineering, fostering a dynamic and experiential learning environment.

+ Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers, emphasizing scholarly excellence and professional development.

+ Contribute to the mission of the school, college, university, and broader scientific community through professional service.

+ Perform other duties as assigned
