About the role

Sileto Technologies LLC is seeking a hands-on Materials/Civil Engineer to join our R&D team and support the development and testing of polymer concrete and advanced construction materials. The engineer is expected to turn research objectives into well-controlled experiments, deliver trustworthy test results, and help improve material formulations and processing methods.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, mix, cast, consolidate and cure polymer concrete specimens with consistent methods and full batch traceability.
  • Execute experimental plans; document formulation, raw materials, processing conditions and test parameters.
  • Perform or coordinate compression, flexural, bond, granulometry and other material tests in accordance with applicable ASTM methods.
  • Characterize materials using techniques such as viscosity, DSC, FTIR, granulometry and density/packing measurements.
  • Analyze experimental data, quantify variability, investigate outliers and summarize findings with practical recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, test records, equipment logs, calibration information and safe laboratory practices.
  • Support screening of resins, additives, fillers and aggregate gradations, as well as scale-up and product qualification.
  • Travel to customer, supplier, partner, and project sites as needed to support field evaluations, technical meetings, product trials, and material qualification activities.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Approximately 1–2 years of relevant hands-on materials testing, laboratory R&D or product development experience; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience preparing specimens, operating testing equipment and troubleshooting inconsistent experimental results.
  • Proficiency in Excel, technical documentation, experimental recordkeeping, PowerPoint presentations and laboratory safety.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for company business, including occasional overnight trips, as project needs require.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly in both languages, verbally and in writing.
  • US Citizens or Green Card Holders only.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with concrete, polymer concrete, thermoset resins (including UPR), composites, coatings or adhesives.
  • Familiarity with ASTM testing, mechanical test frames and analytical characterization equipment.
  • Understanding of design of experiments (DOE), replicate testing and basic statistical analysis.

Success in this position

Within the first 90 days, the engineer should be able to prepare consistent, traceable specimens; perform routine tests safely; maintain reliable datasets; and independently summarize experimental results, variability and next steps.
