Summary
Owens Corning is looking for Machine Operators with manufacturing background in a fast-paced production environment. We are seeking ambitious, self-driven candidates with leadership experience or that are motivated to develop into a leadership role and grow with the company.
The primary objective of this position is to understand, manage, and safely operate all aspects of the downline process.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Tend production lines and interact with equipment using HMI/PLC interfaces
- Safely operate a forklift
- Accurately perform board quality inspections
- Accurately measure objects using a standard tape measure, six-inch scale, and digital caliper
- Accurately enter information into multiple databases
- Operate unit wrapper and perform all associated tasks
- Operate board grinders and prepare and feed scrap products
- Operate compactor equipment and associated tasks
- Properly set up and operate cutting machine
- Operate printer equipment and bar code machine
- Operate a tow motor and obtain license
- Learn and comply with all Owens Corning safety policies along with all other plant rules
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area that is in compliance with 5S standards
- Maintain high level of attendance
- All other duties as assigned or needed
Skills and Abilities
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Ability to do basic mathematical calculations
- Must be able to read a scale and tape measure
- Ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Minium of 1 year experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- Work up to 12 hours in hot/cold manufacturing environment
- Walk/stand on concrete floor continuously for up to 12 hours
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel-toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) hearing protection and long-sleeved shirt (with shirt tail tucked in) as necessary for task
