ABOUT THE TEAM

The Design Team leads Anduril’s brand identity, visual communication, concept art, and industrial design. Our team’s purpose is to connect the mission, people, and products to elevate the Anduril brand. ABOUT THE JOB Anduril Industries is seeking a highly technical and strategic Senior Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Designer to join the Industrial Design team in our Bellevue, WA office. In this role, you will define and implement CMF standards across a diverse hardware portfolio supporting the WarfighterSystems team.

You will translate the industrial design vision into scalable, production-ready solutions by establishing design quality standards and partnering with global manufacturing teams to execute them on the factory floor. WHAT YOU’LL DO Define, develop, and scale a holistic CMF strategy across Anduril’s Warfighter Systems hardware portfolio. Identify and evaluate advanced materials, innovative coatings, and sustainable manufacturing processes that support product performance, durability, and design intent. Lead on-site color-matching sessions and evaluate physical parts under standardized lighting conditions.

Factory execution and quality standards: Serve as the subject-matter expert for visual and cosmetic quality at supplier and manufacturing sites. Establish, document, and implement Cosmetic Quality Specification(CQS) with global manufacturing partners. CMF documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive CMF specifications, approved boundary and limit samples, and step-and-gap requirements to ensure assembly precision and surface consistency. Develop robust tracking systems and documentation workflows to manage, audit, and maintain CMF specifications throughout the product lifecycle. Lead design and research operations, including roadmaps, backlogs, intake processes, and review cadences.

Partner with design and research leadership on prioritization, goal tracking, resource planning, and risk management. Facilitate collaboration among design, business, engineering, and manufacturing stakeholders; provide clear status updates and escalate issues when appropriate. Balance technical constraints, business priorities, design intent, and user experience to deliver strong product outcomes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, product design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of experience developing new hardware products. 10+ years of technical product or program management experience. 10+ years of experience working directly with engineering and manufacturing teams. Demonstrated experience defining and executing CMF strategies for products from concept through mass production. Experience managing complex programs across cross-functional teams, suppliers, and product-release schedules. Experience supporting industrial design and research teams in a product-development environment.

Strong capabilities in resource planning, program delivery, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Experience developing functional specifications, design-verification plans, and test procedures. Proficiency with industrial-design surfacing and parametric CAD or visualization tools; experience with Rhino, SolidWorks, Creo, and KeyShot is preferred. Ability to travel frequently to supplier and manufacturing locations, including international sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in industrial design, UX, architecture, materials science, or a related field. Experience leading interdisciplinary teams through product design and development from concept to production. Experience managing complex technical projects and working with high-volume manufacturing partners. Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, coatings, color development, cosmetic quality standards, and manufacturing processes. A strong portfolio demonstrating successful delivery of hardware products from concept through production.

US Salary Range $220,000 — $292,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
