Role details
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for two postdoctoral fellow positions at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The qualified candidates will work predominantly with Dr. Shouzhong Zou’s research group on synthesis and catalytic applications of Pt-group transition metal nanocrystals. The appointment is a 12-month term position and will commence on or after October 15, 2015. Reappointment for an additional 12-month is possible contingent on the availability of funding and satisfactory of performance.
Successful candidates are expected to conduct laboratory research on electrocatalysis of facet-controlled Pt-group metal nanocrystals, interpret and analyze obtained results, draft manuscripts reporting experimental results, assist supervising graduate and undergraduate researchers in the group. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials or a closely related field with experience in electrocatalysis of nanoparticles, fuel cell catalysts, nanocrystal synthesis and characterization using electron microscopes, and spectroelectrochemistry.
Knowledge of nanoelectrode fabrication, surface enhanced Raman and IR spectroscopy, and surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy is desired, but not required. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2015 and continue until the positions are filled. Please submit applications via: http://apply.interfolio.com/30456. Include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation (sent directly by the writer). Please contact Dr. Shouzhong Zou, Professor, 202-885-1763 or [email protected] if you have any questions.
