Job Title: Specialist, Materials Process Engineer (Chemistry Lab) Job Code: 45825 Job Location: Camden, AR Job Schedule: 4/10: Employees work 10 hour days, 4 days a week Job Description L3Harris is seeking a Laboratory Technician / Chemist to perform mechanical and chemistry laboratory testing activities that support material evaluation and production needs.

This role operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation, conducts routine and complex testing in accordance with established procedures, and documents results accurately in prescribed formats. The position supports chemical analyses, test setup and teardown, data collection, and laboratory process documentation while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The technician works from specifications, engineering drawings, operating manuals, and test instructions to deliver reliable and repeatable laboratory results.

Essential Functions

  • Handle, process, and mix chemicals in a laboratory environment following approved procedures.
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation such as FTIR, Instron systems, DSC, Microtrac, titrators, and HPLC equipment.
  • Sample and test raw materials, propellants, and energetic materials per established methods.
  • Prepare, collect, and document raw test data; perform required calculations.
  • Clean, assemble, maintain, and dismantle laboratory test hardware, equipment, and apparatus.
  • Perform laboratory support tasks including instrument calibration, cleaning, inventory, inspections, and material handling.
  • Generate and save test reports; record data in the required format.
  • Review and support updates to laboratory documentation, including test and calibration procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of related laboratory or testing experience; OR Graduate Degree with 2 years of related experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 8 years of related experience.
  • Practical or theoretical knowledge of chemistry lab principles and practices. Preferred Additional Skills
  • Knowledge of testing explosives, propellants, or energetic materials.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation relevant to rocket propellant manufacturing.
  • Understanding of measurement techniques, calibration principles, and laboratory safety.
