Overview
The position is responsible for supporting fabrication operations through production planning, performance analysis, quality improvement, and process optimization. This role serves as a key link between engineering and production by ensuring accurate manufacturing documentation, monitoring operational performance, identifying inefficiencies and nonconformances, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain shop folders ensuring non‑standard items are clearly highlighted on shop drawings.
- Provide finalized shop folder to the Manager for scheduling & fabrication. Review each newly released vessel with the Production Team during review meetings.
- Collect, organize, and prepare daily production time-cards for management review.
- Analyze material usage, production activity, FRP part weights, and manhours against planned values to identify variances. Determine root causes and report findings to the production team; while working to create corrective actions and process improvements.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
- Conduct detailed project‑specific analyses to uncover inefficiencies and recommend targeted improvements.
- Lead operational streamlining initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and strengthen overall production performance.
- Perform calibration of manufacturing equipment, with emphasis on the TFM accuracy and winding machine outputs/ speeds.
- Track manufactured components moving through the plant to support scheduling accuracy and workflow planning.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.
- Review and audit quality requirements to verify all criteria are met prior to designating projects as Ready to Ship.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a fabrication environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of codes used in FRP and Plastics Industries (ASME-RTP-1, ASTM D3299, AWS, etc.)
- Knowledge of Raw Materials used in FRP industries
- Knowledge of test methods used in the FRP and Plastics industries
- Able to maintain a professional demeanor with strict guidelines and under pressure
- Experience in leadership, with professional peers and manufacturing personnel
- Engineer in Training certification or ability to obtain
