We are seeking a hands-on
Paint Applications Engineer
to support safe, reliable, and efficient paint shop operations. You will develop, improve, and sustain industrial painting processes, robotic applicators, and finishing systems to meet strict production, quality, cost, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimization:
Develop, implement, and maintain paint shop equipment, spray techniques, layouts, and standardized work instructions.
- Quality Control:
Monitor first-time quality, track material usage, minimize scrap, and troubleshoot paint defects or process variations.
- Equipment & Automation:
Support new product launches, equipment installations, robotic programming, system commissioning, and production ramp-up.
- Problem Solving:
Use structured root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, A3, fishbone diagrams) to resolve equipment malfunctions and production interruptions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with production, maintenance, quality control, environmental safety, and external vendors to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
- Training:
Train operators and technicians on new application techniques, standardized work changes, and safety protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Experience:
[2–5] years of experience in a manufacturing environment focusing on paint, coatings, or automated finishing processes.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with robotic paint applicators, bell cups, atomizers, and electrostatic systems.
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMI controls, or automated line sequencing.
- Understanding of environmental compliance, VOC regulations, and paint chemistry.
- Soft Skills:
Strong analytical mindset, cross-functional communication, and readiness to work on the plant floor to troubleshoot urgent issues.
Working Conditions
- This is a hands-on,
on-site manufacturing role
requiring regular presence on the plant floor.
- May require flexible hours, shift rotations, or weekend support during new product launches and scheduled plant maintenance.
