Job Summary

We design and build flight-worthy structures faster than anybody else. We are seeking a Design Engineer to support the design, testing, development, and integration of aircraft structures, mechanical systems/mechanisms, and various systems and components. You will work in a fast-paced environment with high-ownership to take conceptual designs through to flight testing.

Responsibilities:

• Own the design and development of aircraft structural parts and assemblies from preliminary design through manufacturing. May also include structural testing campaign as required
• Design responsible for various mechanical systems, parts and assemblies from conceptual design through a finished product. May also include full systems testing as well.
• Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation
• Apply hand calculations and finite element analysis to produce weight efficient parts that meet structural requirements.
• Utilize design for manufacturing concepts to produce cost effective designs that meet schedule.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations
• Support aircraft assembly by troubleshooting design, fitment, integration, and manufacturing issues
• Maintain engineering documentation and configuration control

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Professional experience in structural design and analysis
• Proficiency in CAD software
• Experience creating engineering drawings with an understanding of GD&T
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability
• Understanding of material properties, stress analysis, load paths, and hand calculations
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Composite design experience
• Hands-on composite layup experience
• Proficiency in FEMAP or other FEA software
• Experience with fast-paced prototype design
• Experience with aircraft certification requirements
• Experience working directly with fabrication/production teams
• Experience supporting flight-test or ground-test programs
