Objectives of the Position

• Manages application development projects in respective country to achieve new profitable business for Engineering Plastics and to meet goals according to country plan
• Technical accountability for the R&D topic pipeline (new products & applications) for respective customers in Country in coordination with the sales team
• Collects market insights and translate the needs of customer into development initiatives Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

(Deliver Profit):

• Accountable to drive projects towards technical milestones (such as material homologation) in line with customer requirements and drives customer projects over the finish line until SOP together with Sales
• Collaborate with Sales in customer complaint handling related to material issue. Close the complaint with customer if justified, negotiation of final compensation/settlement together with Sales to minimize a negative monetary impact.

(Accelerate Innovation):

• Develops technical proposals/ideas for potential business opportunities
• Steadily pursue customer-driven innovations & new application investigation
• Responsible to launch new products at customers with the targeted applications cooperating with stakeholders

(Excite Customer):

• Accountable to deliver technical support for customers under two business units of Engineering Plastics and Thermoplastic Polyurethane
• Responsible to develop a deeper customer relationship to technical departments at Customers (GKA, GSA and local KA) to enhance brand value
• Accountable to provide technical guidance/assistance to customer covering the following four areas leading to project completion and success
• Processing: Providing process optimization to achieve good parts through on-site trial processing techniques to achieve high-quality parts through on-site trials. Advising customers the right injection moulding machine size and screw for sustainable production
• Material: Apply knowledge of material characteristics in relation to application and thorough understanding of customer requirements translated into material choice. Interpret material properties and translate them into applications based on customer requirements, including flammability, mechanical, thermal, electrical, rheological, chemical, and physical properties. Bringing up value proposition of various plastic materials (Specialty, Engineering and Commodity Plastics) in relation to application and part design.
• Mold/Tooling: Recommend mold/tooling modification. Identify root causes, to improve molding and productivity to achieve a broader processing window. Provide tooling/mold fabrication advice in relation to material type: Engineering Plastics and Thermoplastic Polyurethane. Interpret CAE results and guide customers toward gating design and location, for wider processing window.
• Part Design: Contribute to part design by applying foundational design for manufacturing principles. Provide recommendations for part design improvement and effectively to overcome current design restriction and communicate the insights to customers

(Embrace Digitalization):

• Establish Salesforce as single point of truth for customer project pipeline with the Country according to RBM guideline.

Job Requirements (Minimum Requirement To Carry Out The Work)

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, such as Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering

Working Experience

At least 5 years of experience in plastics / plastic resin related industry

Experience as Application Developer / Technical Service or similar roles will be an advantage

Experience dealing with OEM / Contract Manufacturer in managing plastics engineering or injection molders

Technical & Professional Knowledge

Excellent technical background

(Engineering plastics, injection molding, product design, development scheduling)

Knowledge of the major new market trends of the industrial industry

Experience of management of customer related projects

Good global vision and the ability to work fluidly with other cultures

Self-starter and motivator and able to work on own initiative and performance oriented

Team player (work as an integral part of an inter-disciplined team) and strong communicator (oral presentations, written press releases)

Sales/marketing skills with an in-depth knowledge of the drivers and major norm and regulations that exist in the market

Fluent English communication skill in writing, reading & speaking

Occasional Travel within the Asia-Pacific would be required.
