Project Engineer - Injection Molding Manufacturing - Base Salary to 95k/year - Elkhart, IN
- Our client, a custom plastics manufacturing company specializing in injection molding, tooling, and assembly, is seeking a Project Engineer to manage new product and tooling launches from initial customer concept through production release. This role will oversee injection mold design and development, tooling build, mold trials, validation, and production launch.
Responsibilities
- Manage new product and injection molding tooling projects from initial concept through tooling design and build, mold trials, validation, and production launch
- Collaborate with mold designers on product specifications, prototypes, injection mold tooling, and new tooling designs
- Conduct feasibility studies, design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, and cost analyses for new projects
- Prepare quote packages and coordinate with outside tooling vendors and suppliers regarding project timelines and updates
- Design new product concepts using CAD and 3D modeling software, including SolidWorks
- Verify product moldability and support reverse engineering using mold simulation and related engineering software
- Troubleshoot injection molding, tooling, product design, and manufacturing issues during development and launch
- Work with quality and sales teams throughout new product introduction and production release
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years in new product launches within injection molding or related tooling design
- Robust understanding of the injection molding process from initial concept through production
- Advanced knowledge of injection molding materials, tooling, process parameters, and related machinery
- Experience with CAD, including SolidWorks, and CAM software
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting injection molding, tooling, or manufacturing processes
Compensation
- Base salary in the 85k - 95k/year range
